This Week at Merit Woods – November 9–15, 2026: Keep an up-to-date medication list
Seasonal tip: Keep an up-to-date medication list
The FDA says a medication list helps your health care team know about your current health and minimize medication errors and drug interactions, and it can be a lifesaving tool in an emergency.
Your list should include:
Every prescription and over-the-counter medicine, vitamin and supplement you take.
The name and strength of each one, and what you take it for.
When, how and how much you take.
Your allergies and emergency contacts.
A paper list, a smartphone app or a downloadable form all work. Update it whenever something changes, like a new prescription, a different dose or a medicine you've stopped. Keep a copy with you, such as a photo on your phone or a copy next to your insurance card. Share it with a trusted relative, friend or caregiver, too.
Bring your list to every appointment and every pharmacy visit. If you have questions about anything on it, just ask your pharmacist.
